It was very
intimidating at first to organize the poetry fest for such a large group of
people. However, I am very sure that I would have never bothered doing so had I
not been encouraged by my friends and my family.
From the abyss of my heart I sincerely thank all of the concerned people who made Poetry fest possible. My family members, Mr. Kedar Nath Baral, Dr. Basanta Gautam, Dr. Saroj Koirala, Mr. Bikash Gupta and Mr. Gaurav Kandel. Forgive me if I have missed others. Thank you all.
The poetry Fest started with an idea of motivating the writers to be involved. The main theme of the Fest was to free the words and express.
For my very first program, it was a grand success. We received around 200 participants for the competition who ranged from grade 2 to 12 and above. All of the people below the age of twenty participated in the program. I also received some entries online. Hence, I did not regret the idea of making it possible to submit the poems online. Still, the major setback was that the colleges and schools of pokhara were not using the internet often to use it as medium of information communication.
The poems were collected at Shree Dharmasthali Lower Secondary School. Later, it was given to Dr. Saroj Koirala, the head of the jury team, for the evaluation. After one week, I collected the results from the jury and published the results online and in local newspapers.
With the very kind approval of the principal we organized the prize distribution ceremony later.
After the competition of the program, I was very much pleased by the success of the program. It has motivated me as well as other youths of my locality to organize similar programs to keep the younger generation active and conscious.
